Mantra Sadhana & Benefits
The symbolism of a sugarcane bow represents Mother Divine (Sri Mata) mastery over the mind, indicating how She (Sri Maha Ragni) governs the thoughts of Her devotees. Through this control, She (Sri Mat Simhasaneswari) can eradicate the asura, which signifies ignorance within us, by purifying our thoughts and directing our focus towards Her.
A person must master his/her mind or it will dominate him/her. The mind is unpredictable. The mind must be controlled to be managed well. Meditation, awareness, and task-focus can help develop this control. Often, our minds wander while doing something. To return to the present, ask yourself, “What am I doing now?” A simple question can focus attention on the task.
The mind is prone to oscillate between vikalpa and saṃkalpa. While vikalpa refers to an alternate perspective or viewpoint, saṃkalpa refers to a determined intention or resolve to undertake an action. These two are by nature incompatible. The mind processes information through its five senses before turning it into thoughts, which then materialise as words or actions.
Vedic Mantra Wisdom:
The sugarcane bow in devi hand represents Her ability to control the mind and shape Her followers’ thoughts. Mother Divine Sri Mata can defeat the asura, which stands for ignorance, by clearing our minds and turning our attention in Her direction.
