lalita sahasranama sudhasagara-madhyastha
सुधासागर-मध्यस्था STANDS as She who resides in the center of the ocean of nectar
Mantra Sadhana & Benefits
The Mother Divine (Sri Mata) resides in the center of the ocean of nectar.
The Bindu at the center of the Sri Chakra is often likened to an ocean of nectar. According to Tantrasastra, this mystical ocean contains three cities. One city is enveloped in nectar, another is situated within the Candra Mandala in the pericarp of the thousand-petaled lotus, and the third is located at the central point of the Candra Mandala, known as Aparajita. Aparajita is considered the heart of this ocean of nectar and is regarded as a realm of bliss. It is believed that from the Bindusthana of the Sri Chakra, nectar flows through all the nerves of a devotee, but only if they are blessed with her grace. This concept of the Sudha Sindhu is also mentioned in the eighth verse of the Soundarya Lahiri.
Vedic Mantra Wisdom:
Crossing the Vanas leads one to Mani Dweepa, situated in the Amrutha Sagara, beyond the Kshera Sagara (Milky Way). “Mani” signifies self-luminous or self-effulgent entities, such as the sun, which radiates light independently. “Sagara” represents infinity, while “Amrutha” denotes bliss. Therefore, Amrutha Sagara symbolizes the boundless, indescribable bliss experienced by a self-realized yogi upon realizing Her presence. Another term, “Sudhā”, refers to nectar, and “sāgara” to ocean, with “madhyasthā” meaning center.
The Sudhā-sāgara is located in Sahasrāra. Just below Sahasrāra lies the Soma Chakra. When the Kundalini reaches this Soma Chakra, intense heat generated by Japa causes a liquid to flow down through the throat, as also mentioned in nāma 106. This liquid, resembling nectar in viscosity and taste, is known as Sudhā. Self-realized souls sustain themselves on this nectar, eliminating the need for food. Mani Dweepa symbolizes the state of Enlightenment or Self-Realization, with Lalitai being the source of Enlightenment. “Suṣṭhu dhīyate” or Sudha implies the one responsible for creation. “Sudhasagara madhyastha” denotes Lalitai residing in the ocean of Satchitananda/Bliss. This nama concludes the description of SriNagara.
