Mantra Sadhana & Benefits
Salutations to Mother Divine (Sri Mata) who dwells in a lotus forest – the thousand petalled lotus of the Sahasrara
Mother Divine resides in the great lotus forest metaphorically refers to the thousand-petaled lotus, also known as the thousand-spoked chakra or Sahasrara Chakra. This chakra is symbolically represented as a vast lotus forest. The ultimate achievement in spiritual practice, or upasana, is realized when the Kundalini energy, originating from the Muladhara Chakra, ascends to the Sahasrara Chakra, where it unites with Shiva. In this context, the thousand-petaled lotus is not just a physical location, but rather Devi’s spiritual playground.
As described in the Arunopanishad, within this ‘lotus forest’ lies the crucial point of contact between individual consciousness and Cosmic consciousness. This point marks the convergence of the individual’s spiritual journey with the universal divine essence.
Vedic Mantra Wisdom:
This description refers to a palace made of Cintamani, a gem of extraordinary value, situated amidst a vast lotus forest known as Mahapadmatavi. Uniquely, the lotus flowers in this forest, termed as Sthala Padmas, do not grow in water as typical lotuses do; instead, they flourish on land and possess a thousand petals. These lotuses are heavy with pollen, creating an ambiance filled with the buzzing of numerous bees drawn to their nectar.
The narrative symbolically discusses the crown chakra, or Sahasrara, which is located above the six other chakras in the human body. At the center of the Sahasrara lies a tiny opening known as the Brahmarandhra or Padmatavi, through which divine energy enters the human form. This sacred spot is accessible only to those with a pure mind. Lalitai, in this depiction, unites with her consort Shiva within the Sahasrara. The reference to Her abode, Bindu, situated in the midst of the thousand-petaled lotus or Sahasrara, highlights the spiritual significance of this celestial location.
