Mantra Sadhana & Benefits
The symbolism of Mother Divine (Sri Mata)feet defeat lotus flowers in radiance
The Divine Mother’s feet, surpassing the beauty of lotus flowers, are softer, purer, and more fragrant. Unlike lotus flowers, which only draw bees with their faint buzz, Devi’s feet captivate skilled poets. The allure of Devi’s feet is boundless, transcending time and space with their beauty and aroma. Her feet, a blend of white and red, shine brilliantly, dispelling darkness. This imagery points to Sri Guru Paduka, where the Guru’s feet, described as red and white, eradicate the disciple’s ignorance.
Contrary to other deities who require hands and gestures for granting boons and protection, the Divine Mother needs none of that. Her lotus feet alone possess immense power to confer blessings and offer refuge. The Mother’s feet, embodying the varada-abhaya gestures, graciously provide us with both material prosperity and spiritual liberation.
The endless radiance emanating from Her feet eclipses even the brightest lotuses. Her feet also eliminate the darkness of ignorance and lingering impressions (vasanas) that follow us through countless births. It is only through the realization of the Self that one can escape the cycle of rebirth, as countless births are a result of not attaining Self-realization or the knowledge of Atma.
Vedic Mantra Wisdom:
For spiritual seekers who have etched Her feet into their minds and intellect, swift achievement awaits. This emphasizes Her role as a Guru, where the feet of the Devi/Guru eradicate the disciple’s ignorance. This concept is also embodied in the Guru Paduka mantra, which dispels the darkness of ignorance. A disciple’s gaze should always be fixated upon the Guru’s feet.
“Vande Gurupada dwandam avaangmaanasa gocharam Raktashukla prabha mishra atarkyaim traipuram mahah” . This translates to: I mentally salute and worship the lotus feet of my Guru, which are indescribable, unimaginable, and beyond the reach of speech and mind (vak and manas). These feet exhibit a blend of two colors – rakta (blood red) and shukla (white). The glow of these divine supreme feet extends beyond all three worlds.
