Mantra Sadhana & Benefits
This phrase symbolizes the teeth as being reminiscent of Shuddha Vidya, which is another name for Sri Vidya. Sri Vidya, an esoteric representation of the Divine Mother, manifests in the form of sound or Mantra. Predominantly, Sri Vidya encompasses two significant Mantras: the Shodashakshari, consisting of 16 syllables that symbolize the 16 phases of the moon, and the Maha Shodashi, comprising 32 syllables. These 32 syllables are metaphorically linked to the 32 teeth of the (Sri Mata). Each of these 16 bījas comprises two parts: the Siva bīja and the Shakthi bīja.
Dattatreya, the Brahma Swaroopa, Atmagynani has expounded in Dattatreya YogaSamhita (it
contains 18,000 shlokas) about the 32 Śuddha-vidyās. Lord Parasurama’s guru was Dattatreya, and he has condensed this knowledge in Tripurā Rahasya.
The mantras are not merely invocations of the mother; they are embodiments of her essence. Mother Divine teeth, radiant and gleaming, resemble the brilliance of 16 Veda pandits draped in white attire, seated in two rows, engrossed in Vedic chanting. Hence, the potent mantra yeilds Vak Siddhi.
Vedic Mantra Wisdom:
The teeth symbolize the extensive knowledge embedded in the Vedas. Moreover, this name encompasses the powerful ṣodaśī mantra, considered the foundational seed of Śrī Vidyā, composed of sixteen bījas (seed letters). A guru must verbally initiate their disciple into the Sri Vidya Sampradaya. This oral tradition emphasizes the importance of speech by using the teeth, which are a component of the mouth, to stand in for the 16 bjas.
The Vashistāgama text discusses the 16 forms of knowledge (vidyā) within the Dakshinachara Sampradaya.
